But, first things first:
Here is the question: Where to stay in Mallorca for a first-time visit?
The answer is simple: Palma de Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca is the island’s capital, and it hides an old city carved out of many historical and governmental influences mixed with an exceptionally modern vibe. Even if you don’t have a passion for art and architecture, you will still be amazed by its buildings as well as the excellent trendy restaurants and cafes.
To get a better idea of the city, go to the following districts:
- Casco Historico
- Santa Catalina
- Paseo Maritimo
Why do we recommend these areas?
Noted as one of the best places to stay in Mallorca, the Casco Historico area is located in the old part of the city near the centre. It has beautiful restaurants for dinner and even nightclubs. Unexpectedly, but still valid, the nights in this neighbourhood are pretty peaceful and pleasant to sleep.
On the other hand, if you want to book dinner in a top-rated restaurant, choose the Santa Catalina district, and during the day, walk through the stalls of the oldest market in Palma. This part of the city has a modern feel and is close to all the attractions.
And finally, the most beautiful part, Paseo Maritimo, is the edge of the lovely promenade with a small city beach where many people chill out. You’ll also see plenty of tourists wandering around, admiring the grand cathedral on the opposite side. In addition to the unmissable structure, this part offers many other attractions, and again, the nights are quiet and pleasant.
Here’s a full map for you to understand the different areas.
Please note: those might not be the exact names of the districts, neither its absolute borders. I just tried to simplify this information.
