You no longer have to search for the best cities to visit in Spain. In this blog, I’m going to talk about the brimming Seville and all the exciting things you need to see and do here! For those reasons, I have prepared an easy-to-use guide on where to stay in Seville and what you must take advantage of.
But first, some interesting facts about this Andalusian city, otherwise the 4th largest in Spain. This city is an assemblage of many influences expressed through Iberian, Muslim, Gothic and Renaissance architecture and culture. Believe it or not, according to legend, Seville was founded by Hercules himself. If you like mythology, it is worth exploring more. And if you are a fan of design, architecture and impressive buildings, visit the largest wooden structure in the world, La Setas.
Movie lovers will be attracted to this city because Seville is the filming location of several famous movies, namely Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and Knight and Day. It challenges you to find precisely which shot or episode is there and take a picture of you in the same spot. Let your imagination run wild as you explore where to stay in Seville for the first time.
Question: Where to stay in Seville for a first-time visit?
Speaking of where to stay in Seville, this is one of the most prominent Spanish cities, and everything is in one place. Its wealth has remained since the 1500s when Seville was the wealthiest city in the entire region. Something that will surely interest you is that Seville is the birthplace of the famous Flamenco dance. You’ll probably also like the tapas bars you have at every turn.
And no, it’s not only Vienna that is associated with opera culture. Seville is the primary setting, and the main action of the most famous opera, Carmen. Imagine knowing all this information and walking around the city; the feeling is entirely different. And if you’re wondering when to visit and where to stay in Seville first time, it would be in spring because summer temperatures often reach 40 degrees. And now, for the second part of the question-

But, first things first:
Here is the question: Where to stay in Seville for a first-time visit?
The answer is simple: Santa Cruz
Also known as the Jewish Quarter, this maze-like neighbourhood is where you will want to get lost. The labyrinth of alleys, charming squares, and hidden gardens make this part of the city attractive for everyone, regardless of whether you are with your family or partner, alone or with a group of friends. The heartbeat of Santa Cruz beats in the proper rhythm of Andalusia. There is no better place to explore Sevillano’s passion.
As you’re searching for the best places to stay in Seville, here are all the must-see areas:
- The Alcázar of Seville
- Seville Cathedral
- Patio de Banderas
- Hospital de los Venerables
- Casa de Pilatos
Why do we recommend these areas?
The first thing you should visit is the Alcazar Palace, the oldest royal palace still in use. Earlier, people had to pass through the Patio de Banderas (a large courtyard) to enter the palace. Many tourists are fascinated with its construction and the details carved into it.
If you thought the biggest cathedral is St Peter’s Basilica, situated in Rome, let me tell you differently. Come and see the Cathedral of Seville, the largest cathedral in the world, which houses Columbo’s thumb.
Hospital de los Venerables dates back to the first century and was intended to treat old priests. You will recognize it by its Baroque architecture.
Casa de Pilatos is another unique architecture in which Mudaliar, Gothic, Renaissance and Roman elements are intertwined.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the details about where to stay in Seville.
Here’s a full map for you to understand the different areas.
Please note: those might not be the exact names of the districts, neither its absolute borders. I just tried to simplify this information.

1.8 Budget Traveler
1.1 Families
The first thing I’ll recommend is to avoid the hot summer months if you come with children because the temperatures here can be extremely high. Although the water is considered drinkable, there are only a few public taps. Besides, the parks and gardens where you can spend time with your family are more lovely in spring; especially those with beautiful bitter oranges. Seville is the city with the most significant number of orange trees.
So, it is to be expected that in addition to all the spices, the aroma of orange pervades the Andalusian kitchen. Here, your children will try excellent traditional food and local cuisine. If they’re interested in the Flamenco tradition, go together to the Flamenco Dance Museum and participate in a workshop. If you have more time, then feel free to book a Guadalquivir cruise.
Santa Cruz
The oldest part of the city dates back to the 1st century and occupies the centre of the town. Although it is highly touristy, there is still a corner with accommodations where you can rest at night. And in the morning, you’ll enjoy drinking coffee on your sweet Andalusian balcony.
The location is ideal for public transportation, as this is one of the best neighbourhoods in Seville for tourists. The Cathedral is nearby. As I said, this place has a lot of tourists. However, it is still safe for children and families to move around, unlike Barcelona, where you are only afraid of being robbed.
Triana
Triana is a soulful Seviile beyond the river. This colourful barrio has an interesting gipsy spirit and a lively atmosphere. You know you’re in this neighbourhood once you cross the famous Isabel II Bridge, a great Instagram photo spot. While you explore the spoils, treat your family to some delightful sweets at the renowned Manu Jara Patisserie.

1.2 Couples
Seville is a historic city packed with a couple’s hideouts. The place is both alluring and romantic, and the beautiful rooftops offering magical utopian energy really stand out. If you want a romantic setting, go to Maria Luisa Park, and if you have time for a romantic getaway as a day trip, spend 1 hour to get to Bolonia Cadiz. A few more exciting activities are horseback riding or a couple of massages in Arab baths. And now, more about the best neighbourhoods in Seville.
Barrio Santa Cruz
For couples, I will single out Calle de los Besos, the street of kisses, the narrowest street in the whole city. Being such an exciting place, I’m sure you will never be bored here. Book a river cruise, dine at a tapas bar or explore the romantic hidden plazas.

In that case, you can book private tours, for example, through the Alcazar or participate in a VIP Flamenco Show. Some of the most luxurious Michelin-starred restaurants are Tribeca (for seafood), Basque (for international food), and Tradero Cutro (for traditional Andalusian food). If you are interested in extravagant shopping, Calle Sierpes awaits you, a street full of upscale designer boutiques.

You are a step away from all these occasions, and if you are fond of shopping, you can buy yourself some great branded pieces. This is one of the best neighbourhoods in Seville, with many beautiful restored historic buildings. In addition, it has a riverfront setting. And the nightlife here is on the next level.
