Have you ever believed that Arab, British and Italian cultures can be merged into one? Well, it can, in one of the best places to visit in Europe in December! I am taking you to Valletta, the capital of Malta. This country got its independence relatively late, in 1964. Before that, it was a British colony, which you can notice by left-hand driving.
Many people from the East live here, whose influence is still seen, and the proximity of Sicily makes the cuisine similar to that of Italy, which is a real blessing. If you decide to travel here, make sure to enjoy the incredibly pleasant and festive atmosphere as you explore Malta’s rich history and culture!

- Explore St. John’s Co-Cathedral

How to get to Valletta
Malta is a small island, and the most exciting thing is that the airport is quite close to the centre. There is even an underpass under the runway. You have 2 bus stations at the airport that take you to any part of the city. This makes travelling to one of the warm places in Europe in December very convenient.
As for going by car, I recommend that you embark on that experience only if you have driven on the British system. Bus transportation is frequent, but it is prolonged, and the traffic is chaotic. But I still recommend taking a bus or a Bolt taxi.
Where to stay in Valletta
Floriana is almost merged with Valletta, but it is much calmer and ideal for family accommodation. Public transport to all attractions is frequent and very fast.
If you travel alone, Valletta will offer you excellent opportunities for historical research, pub crawls, bonding with the locals, and, most importantly, accommodation in authentic Maltese houses with colourful doors and windows.
Malta focuses its opulence on Sliema or in St. Julian. The location right next to the coast offered an excellent opportunity for many top hotels to be located here. What you should notice is the high-class rooftop bar and restaurant. And if you want to experience the nightlife, Silema presents you with Paceville.
Hotel Castille
The building dates back to the 16th century. The hotel had a beautiful rooftop restaurant called De Robertis, famous throughout Malta. Inside Hotel Castille, the rooms are historically elegant, and you can also find peace in the quiet reading lounge. The location is excellent because it is only 5 minutes from the ferry to Sliema and 5 minutes from the central bus station.
